Yo, haha well Hope everything and SS to start with. They had one left in orange so orange it is. I already had purple Pro4 Fortus 29ers ordered beforehand so it's purple and orange all the way.
I very quickly photoshopped the colour combo as a guide / reference:

What your ballpark budget for this hardtail frame?
As if I could warrant the expense I’d buy a Curtis AM9 or AM7 without a doubt!

too much anodised bits/purple, tone it down
also orange frame = no tanwalls
-
• #19255
buy a Curtis
+1
would like to buy a racelite frame, a few years down the line, as a sort of mid life crisis purchase and start hanging around the pumptrack when I'm clearly too old

Yes! In clearcoat

Oh man, so so much.
Lusted after one when I was young. The raw showing the lovely fillet brazing.
I still check pinkbike classifieds in the hope to find one. -

ballpark budget
Well I thought the pole taival was too expensive at €950. Those Curtis frames look nice but just shy of £1200.

Nice! The grips are a bit much perhaps?

On the look out for a bike for my partner. If anyone's got something, or seen something, that would fit someone who's 5'3", drop me a message please!

I'm adamant the grips will work (they won't be those stupid Oury's) if not I have spare plain one's laying around.
@amey Yeah, possibly chainring and pedals are overkill.
Neither are my preferred colours, but I haven't got an endless budget and preferences are narrowing with stock availability.
Also, it's a quick mock up so colour is over vibrant.
For now at least, it's fun / availability > money / show.

The Moxie will be back in stok early Feb. To any taller riders keep in mind that the seattube is only 420mm.
Another similar UK steel HT is Stif Squatch. I didn't like the 80mm BB drop tho. -

taller
Leggy - FTFY

• #19264
Nah I reckon I could fit that still

Stif Squatch. I didn't like the 80mm BB drop tho.
Educate me please. The Moxie has 64mm drop.

it's fun / availability > money / show
Yes. Availability is certainly an issue with a lot of stuff right now. "hope everything" does sound like money/show to me though :-)

I suck at riding so I'm looking for balance between stability and pedal strikes. 80mm BB drop with 175mm cranks is a pedal strike galore.
-
• #19269
BB drop is how far below the hubs the BB sits (in relation to an imaginary horizon between the F&R hubs, as an unloaded bike)
Low drop means more perched atop the bike feeling, easier to lift the front wheel/ hop
High drop more stable at high speeds, better cornering feel. There isn't really a right or wrong drop, its a personal thing.

I hate pedal strikes. I suck at riding too so thanks for the warning. Too bad as it looked good otherwise.

I also share a hatred for shorter seat tubes - https://www.lfgss.com/comments/15464590/

My newer geo bikes both have low BB's, pedal strike is much more of a thing but the overall performance is worth the trade off to me
-
• #19273
More speed --> less strike no?
@russmeyer Hope is cheap for me ;)

I used to ride a Planet X Armadillo MTB frame, and the BB drop was basically 0.
Loved that ride

Re: Orange frame tanwalls...
But black components make this much more passible. Purple / Orange / Tans would probably be an eye gouging shit show.
Yeah pipedream/moxie seem decent.
My friend has a pipedream ALICE frameset that I really like and considering in the future.
I think they have pretty good direct customer service. My pal sent them a message on insta for info about frame stock since the mk2 version of the Alice frame was coming out. The owner of the company replied saying still no stock of mk2 but offered to sell him his own mk1 for mad cheap if he didn't want to wait for mk2.
