And state funded actors know this too. They don’t try all that hard to get messaging perfect - they can launch 30 iterations with the same time/resource and just measure and note which get traction.

Erm. You could argue, and you probably should, that they're not the stupidest memes. They're the memes that are evolving in their environment.

I assumed it was effectively crowd sourced from teh marketplace of ideas.
Trending ideas such as ‘Biden is a shell-figure and will hand over to Harris within two years’ get traction not because anyone actually has good information, but because it fucking triggers Trumpists hard and garners many page views.
It’s quite American really.
