Cheers, Command Strips was the one I was trying to remember.
@gbj_tester that's jogged my memory and looking at my emails it appears I have bought some 3M VHB tape in the past, now I need to find it. Anything I should be doing for surface prep beyond a clean and wipe over with an alcohol wipe?

"Cleaning" by wiping with a solvent just spreads any oil contamination into a nice even layer. Better to abrade the surfaces with clean dry sandpaper/wire wool/Scotch-Brite

Put the parenthesis in the correct place so that the following becomes 12 and not -6
5 + 5 - 8 - 4 * 2Eh?

• #106580
((5 + 5) - (8 - 4)) * 2

Cheers, I'll give that a try.

I don’t think you want to abrade with self adhesive. There’s no real liquid/gel property to the adhesive or cure to take advantage of the key and increased surface area as it’s tacking rather than bonding. You want it shiny really, so that it grabs. You might want to abrade it to reduce the surface finish to a smoother finish if anything, ie remove any high spots. Key thing is to not have any greasy residue or dusty debris.
Materials testing hat on: You do need to clean the surface before abrading else you’ll force any oily residue into the grooves where you abraded. Then it’s almost impossible to get out. Always clean multiple times with isopropanol before abrading, then again after until your cloth comes away clean. Alter the solvent to suit the material.

How do people manage their photos?
At a loss how to deal with mine now I've got them all in one place (at least in one set of subdirectories) and almost minimised the number of duplicate copies everywhere.
Being able to share subsets of photos as albums privately (to different groups) and making sure they're backed up somehow would be a bonus.

Why do I get updates on some threads that I'm not actually following? And why are they not moved up like others with new content?
-
• #106587
If you follow part of a forum they appear automatically but don't move up the list unless you actually follow the individual thread. Let's you follow "Edinburgh" for instance and would see new threads but if they weren't interesting to you then they'd disappear

Google Chrome Helper.
Anyone else having trouble with it hogging memory on a MacBook?
I tried the fix of disabling the auto plug ins thingy and the sandboxing thingy all to no avail, activity monitor still shows the helper munching away on my memory.
I think it started about a month ago; was there a chrome update around that time? -

Hey folks,
Can I convert a Hope Pro 4 QR 135mm Disc hub to 142mm x 12mm Thru?
-
• #106592
Yes. You want the X12 conversion kit, part number HUB242.

I bought some combat trousers from Arktis like the below:
The hem drawstrings are crazy long and have individual toggles. I don't get it. Am I meant to cut them down? tie them in a bow ever time i put the trousers on?
Currently contemplating replacing the individual toggles with a dual...toggle thing and cutting the laces down, but I feel there's must be a reason they're designed like they are.

Normally i think people start a project thread if they're doing a custom frame, or maybe the bike fit thread?

Pointless discussions tend to thrive in the gravel thread...
I have replied to you in the other thread however.

Got a nice frame yesterday, its not got any tubing decals but has internal rifling, going to double check today but I believe they run along the tubing rather than spiralled. Any ideas what it is?
Drop outs are Reynolds but I don't think its 708. Builder would use whatever was good/suited apparently.

I've pulled out the cords on every pair of pants I've ever bought that had 'em, I think it's mostly fashion. They're definitely not safe for cycling as is, and look like they taper enough to keep the weather out anyway.

Are park tools cone spanners thinner than random cheap cone spanners from the bay of dreams?
Trying to adjust the cones on a rear hub and the free hub gets in the way with my knackered pedal spanner.
Alt if you have a park tools cone spanner could you measure the thickness of it?

They're actually not for cycling in, more for hiking, I feel like there must be a reason for it but it's so baffling.
ATM I'm tying them in a nice bow.
Was trying to figure out which bit of that was dog and which bit was tyre.
