  • Bump for some nice HH bling

@Naedauhsoj Can you tell me who painted the stem and post?
I'm looking to get a stem and maybe seat post done very similar to this and looking for recommendations on painters

  • Target Composites (as per one of the posts), in Cheshire.

Kustomflow, Fat Creations or a couple of others amongst many who will do something similar...

  • Thank you, just looked at Target composites website, didn't realise they offered the service.
Have spoke to FatCreations previously but they currently have a very long waiting list.

Ill look up KustomFlow too thanks

  • Carbon reincarnation.com

North of England somewhere, I posted up. Quick turnaround

  • Yeah, I think Target are more a repair outfit as opposed to pure funky sprayshops like Kustomflow or Fat Creations, but I'm sure they adept at spray jobs too.

Yup, most sprayshops are booked solid, and tbh are charging an arm n a leg. I was quoted £700 for a strip n basic colour spray for an old Scott Foil. I've resorted to DiY with a razor blade to remove the paint I wasnt gone, and when the weather gets warmer, I'll be at it with a rattle-can LOL

  • Yeah I'd thought about getting a custom spray on one of my mtb frames. FatCreations quoted £600-£700. Decided against it as frame has lifetime warranty and crash replacement which would apparently be voided if custom painted.

I'm know that even a stem being painted will be pricey, but have yet to hear any prices on just a stem alone. Obviously there's a limit to what one would spend just to have a stem painted though...

I experimented sanding down a carbon stem and then clear coating it. I got a pretty a good result considering I done it in my garage and had no idea what I was doing.
But I think I'll have to pay someone to get the flip colour painted logos I want

  • Yeah, I just want plain black to replace the dated green/ yellow Kamm Tail paint detail that was on the back of seat tube/ stays (old Orica Green Edge Team Edition style). I'd read about the razor method which although sounding terrifying, is actually very effective/ quick at removing laquer and paint...

Yeah I have a damaged carbon mtb front triangle that was replaced under warranty. I'm keeping it to eventually use to practice on to do some DIY spray painting. I've used a sharp blade to take off the paint and it works well.
Anyway sorry to derail thread. Free bumps :)

  • Frameset cost £450
    Stem cost £40
    Seatpost £50

    All at carbon reincarnation

  • Oh shit thats a fair bit cheaper than I expected for stem and post.

Looks like I'm defo going full HH. Thanks Dude

  • Oh wow, didn't realise there was such an outfit up in Carnforth. Definitely worth noting...

  • Price drop

    Stem £155
    Post £75

  • What's the exposed length of the seatpost from clamp to bottom of rails (ie unscathed lacquer)?

(just noticed it's looks like you may be running ovalized rails there too? Can you confirm? DO you have standard rail clamp also?)

  • 18cm stick out. Complete post has been lacquered.

Seat rail clamp takes oval or round. Cannondale speedsave doesn’t come in different options

  • Few more pic’s length is 342mm
    170g

    Price drop £70
