  • In the unlikely event of anyone having some X Beams for sale. Would anyone on here be able to 3D print 2 sets of these below?

  • Hi, just came across this by chance. I could have shot at printing some if you’re still in need?

  • If you could, that would be amazing! How do we go about this?

  • I already looked to see if I could find the files, they’re available freely on thingiverse, so I’ll have a look at the model later on, but it should be super simple

  • I could possibly throw somehting together in blender and give it a go - have you got any more pictures of these or links?

And more details as to where they fit, etc.

  • I'm really sorry to jump on the thread like this... But Ive also got something I'd like 3d printed, if it was something you could do I'd certainly pay you for it!
Its a blue print for a small mud guard on a mtb.

    This here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4552043

I've no idea how easy or difficult it is to produc that?

  • @MartinERK you still on here?
Martin has a Rev X he crashed and then turned into a drone by 3D printing all the required parts... if he hasn't got the bits you require spare from that build process I'm sure he could print you some!

Edit: just read all the above and seems you are on your way to a solution...

  • Yes, those. I could do a test print this evening and see how they come out?

  • That might require some support and rotating the model to get it to print correctly, but I also don’t mind downloading the file to have a look at how it would need to be printed

  • Can't believe who ever drew them up didn't give them an aero profile!

  • Ah thanks dude, listen don't go too out of your way or anything. If its a bit involved don't sweat it. But if it turns out to be fairly straight forward for you I'd be happy to pay for your time and costs. But again, if it seems even remotely like too much of a pain then its no bother.

  • There’s no harm in me taking a look at the files, I’ve got nothing else to do in lockdown, maybe some 3D printing will help pass the time

  • Much appreciated, thanks. Have a gander and let me know what you think :)

  • I took a look with Cura, and unfortunately with my creality printer at home, with the support it would be quite a monster print (~300g, 17 hours with a bit of shuffling). If ShutUp has a printer 2 nozzles and dissolvable support material, etc, maybe it will be possible for him!

  • This was my fear. I’m using a Creality CR-10 so I’d likely have the same problem

  • Let me know when you have something ready. I’d pretty much given up on this and was going to sell off the wheels

  • Thanks for looking, appreciate it. haha 17 hours... maybe not then! Thanks for looking into it, I know nothing about 3d printing and just thought it would be cool to use that guard but its clearly way more hassle than its worth!

  • Yeah, agreed. For this reason (I don't even own spinergy wheels), I threw this together from the same .stl file so it should fit. It's not really that much more aero, but it weights a bit less (1g vs 1.2g lol), and the aero aspect is probably negligible.

And if you've got a spinergies, you may as keep them looking cool...

  • I can 3d print 4 of the square ones, and 4 curved cylindrical ones (see image above) today probably, i'll send a picture when 1 of each is done.

  • 😍😍😍

  • Yeah, i think there are some tricks and i didn't try fully rotating for the best angle, etc, but i think with a shape like the mudguard it's always going to be a bit of a mess

  • Yeah absolutely, too many supports needed for the arches, and if one of those prints fails on you, that’s a lot of wasted filament

  • Here are the first ones - I'll print 4 of each (personally wanna see how the cylindrical ones look like in the wheel)

The slight angle in both is what was in the original file and I kept it in both as presumably the person who made the rectangular one actually had some spinergy wheels

  • Also realised I only have white PLA left so has to be white but can be painted!
