as per the current system he's presided over
A very good point, if we’re judging what would be ‘just’. He did nothing to change the system despite having ample power to do so; is it unjust if he is processed in accordance with it?

I think stripping him of his assets, having to live in the local YMCA and spend his days clearing up litter will remove much of that privilege and leave him humiliated. Perhaps more so than sitting in a cell in solitary confinement away from the public faze.

I like to convince myself that if I was in power I'd behave better than Trump. I might be delusional, I'll probably never know.
-

You’ve set a damn low bar there, friend. I think most normal honest people would actively struggle to match trump for his craven corruption and perversion. He’s unfailingly remorseless and hateful. Not just anyone can do what he’s done.

He's been bankrupt many times, he'll be back on his feet again or propped up by rich friends in no time. A suitable amount of jail time, and the message it sends to people like him, that no one is above the law seems very apt. He deserves no special treatment for being rich or powerful, no one does, if anyone else did what he's (allegedly) done they'd be put away for good, I only want equal treatment for him. The idea that he's so used to being rich that him being poor for a bit is punishment enough is bullshit, the punishment should be the same. I'm all for those punishments being more geared towards rehabilitation and less jail time all round for everyone, but that's a different discussion, he's broken the laws of a country that's more than happy to jail people for profit and should get treated as well or as badly as everyone else in that place.

I don't want most people to go to jail, we lock up far too many people. It's expensive
GoFundMe whip round to cover the costs for the Big Orange Baby?

This may be a bit niche.

Still quite a chunky increase from the £60 flat fine beforehand.
Finland does "day fines". Basically you pay 50% of your daily wage but that can go up the faster you're going depending on the speed limit.
In 2002, Anssi Vanjoki, a former Nokia director, was ordered to pay a fine of 116,000 euros ($103,600) after being caught driving 75km/h in a 50km/h zone on his motorbike.
And in 2015, Finnish businessman Reima Kuisla was fined 54,000 euro ($62,000) for driving 22km/h over the 50km/h speed limit.

No pardon for the Tiger King but Steve Bannon and Lil Wayne get one.

Joe exotic must be gutted , the limo was ready only 20 years left

I loved how the last couple of days the media was talking as if Bannon wasn't going to get a pardon. We all know he has more dirt on Trump so it was inevitable. Also, even if that wasn't the case I'm sure he had 2M dollars to spend.
-
• #15539
Does that mean that Bannon has to admit to defrauding the trumpsters?

Stephen K. Bannon – President Trump granted a full pardon to Stephen
Bannon. Prosecutors pursued Mr. Bannon with charges related to fraud
stemming from his involvement in a political project. Mr. Bannon has
been an important leader in the conservative movement and is known for
his political acumen. -

now that would be exquisite, getting each person pardoned to come out and say in main stream media exactly what they did to get the jail sentence in the first place, or have a script written for them to read out detailing their sins, just for the public record like
make them grovel or they don't get out

the man has damaged the US more than any single individual
Putting this all on Trump is mistake. This has been the Republicam playbook for then past 20 years, with Trump a useful foil.

Head over to Reddit to hear some nasty recordings Kelly Ann Conway's daughter has taken of her mother screaming at her.
Btw, if you grew up in an abusive home you may want to give this a miss. -

There's a lot in there which are probably fine. Then there's the people convicted of bribery of federal officials, racketeering, child endangerment, spying and so on. I can see some positive stuff like letting people out who are on crazy sentences for a bit of weed or counterfeit goods but then you've got drug dealers serving 40 years for shifting serious amounts of drugs and arrested with weapons caches etc.
Just bizarre.

America is very very lucky Trump was stupid and ignorant. If it had been someone far more intelligent and well versed in law America might have collapsed
It's amazing one man could even come close, even if he is the president. Amazing how fragile their politix is

I reckon that was a request by his daughter.
I have it on good authority that she loves a bit of trap.
Strip him of all his assets and send him to somewhere like Midway Atoll. Put him in barrack style accommodation and send him out clearing plastic debris from the beaches. I'm sure there are more creative people than me that can think of other things too.
