He's been bankrupt many times, he'll be back on his feet again or propped up by rich friends in no time. A suitable amount of jail time, and the message it sends to people like him, that no one is above the law seems very apt. He deserves no special treatment for being rich or powerful, no one does, if anyone else did what he's (allegedly) done they'd be put away for good, I only want equal treatment for him. The idea that he's so used to being rich that him being poor for a bit is punishment enough is bullshit, the punishment should be the same. I'm all for those punishments being more geared towards rehabilitation and less jail time all round for everyone, but that's a different discussion, he's broken the laws of a country that's more than happy to jail people for profit and should get treated as well or as badly as everyone else in that place.
I don't want most people to go to jail, but you seem to be mixing up a decent idealistical view on the justice system with what should happen to a man who has likely committed a load of very serious crimes and should be tried and jailed as per the current system he's presided over, rather than avoid jail time as many of his peers would in such situation due to the privilege of being an old, rich, white guy that generally doesn't have to worry about the law.
