Mid-reach brake options for a fork with "non-recessed" nut, drill or not drill?

Hi all,
Considering my brake options for a fork with a "non recessed" brake drilling.
1. Find or convert a brake for a bolted mount, no drilling needed.
2. Drill the fork, seems to be enough material to work with. Question mark about how the recessed bolt would connect to the rounded profile of the fork. Would additional washer matching the rounded shape be recommended?
Are there other options to consider?

Just drill the back out to the diameter of the sleeve of a recessed brake nut. I wouldn't bother counter-boring for the head. It won't sit flat, but you'll barely notice and it doesn't matter mechanically as long as the front and rear holes are relatively snug.

I'm in the same situation, requiring a reach of 55mm. I have just bought some nutted Tektro R737 callipers. Planning to add some Swiss Stop or Kool Stop aluminum rim pads to them (still need to look into compatibility) and get some new Tektro or other compatible levers.

Too early to say whether this is the best solution but it seems a pretty easy way to do this bit of my fixie to SS conversion.
