It took me mopping a new kitchen floor 6 times before the water came out clear.
I think if it was a whole house thing I'd just open all the windows to see what would leave in a few hours, and then close every window and let it settle for a few days... then paint all the ceilings and walls, mop the floors and call it done.
Nothing seems to get rid of builders dust, but if every room has been worked on and the place is empty... paint and mop will coat or clear every surface. :shrug :meh
We had messy plasterer/decorators in. Engineered floor was filled with dust/paint etc. The best way I found was vinegar and water with a wax on wax off technique. Wash with a big sponge, then dry straight away with a towel. You need to get the dirty water off the floor.
I can't imagine the amount of dust you must have.
