Why do I get updates on some threads that I'm not actually following? And why are they not moved up like others with new content?

If you follow part of a forum they appear automatically but don't move up the list unless you actually follow the individual thread. Let's you follow "Edinburgh" for instance and would see new threads but if they weren't interesting to you then they'd disappear
