Depending on who is using it I'd still think about adding a touch remote if you can get one cheap. The customisable touch screen part means you can have buttons with custom labels.
I had heard that the desktop version doesn't work with Mac. It's still fully supported on Windows if you have access to a Windows PC or a virtual machine.

Thanks both - yep, it's the harmony connect remote with the hub.
Unfortunately it looks like the desktop software is no longer being supported and 32-bit only so not compatible with Catalina or above. But I have the iOS app which seems to do the same thing.
Cool, I'll spend a sunday afternoon mucking about, thanks for the tips x
