Crazy idea that will probably be a no go, but has anyone had experience of retrofitting a balcony ?

1st floor flat, could convert large kitchen sash window to a double door, and either get a decking area built above downstairs neighbours conservatory, or have a “floating” balcony...

These thoughts are what self isolating does to you...

Planning can be hard for outside space on upper levels as you suddenly oversee a lot of gardens.

We aren't overlooked at all right now and if someone wanted a balcony that would look into our garden I wouldn't be keen.

Presumably someone from planning would pay a visit and make an assessment? I genuinely don’t think we’d see much more than we can now through the windows. Especially the kitchen window which is exceptionally wide.
