Wouldn't have thought so. I carry my camera in a padded 'sleeve' in a bar bag and never noticed anything untoward. Can't imagine it gets any more shocks etc than in a car or when slung over my shoulder when walking.
I did once have a crash in the woods at speed, luckily the only thing that broke was the screen protector.
Vaguely relevant question to this thread, does carrying camera on bikes cause any long term damage in terms of bumps/vibration/shock?
Got both a modern digital and an old 35mm mechanical camera and their lenses in mind
Not sure if any of you guys also insure camera for the off chance of crashes
