• Annoyingly my amp (Marantz PM6007) has two optical inputs but only one button on the remote for optical input and you press it to cycle between the two which makes it a bit useless for a universal remote.

In the absence of any other bright ideas I'm thinking of using an optical to coax converter to the coax input as there is only one of those so it can be selected first time using the remote. There are lots in the £10-£15 range such as this https://smile.amazon.co.uk/Proster-Digital-Converter-Dolby-AC3-Bi-directional/dp/B07JBWW5PB , is there any reason to spend more?

  • Don't think so.

I use a similar device to connect my gf's TV optical out to her old Sony 5. 1 AVR via coaxial (Scart being its second input option...brrrr)

So now she can have all audio going thru it (Sky, terrestrial and smart TV apps). She wasn't using the avr at all earlier.

Anyway my point is, no, you don't need more than that.
