  • To be fair the republicans have recently demonstrated how terrified they are of democracy.

  • Is the chair of a committee voted on, or is it just automatically the most senior member of the majority party?

  • I hope it has a huge impact. He is everything Trump/ assoc is/are not.

My family is probably foaming at the mouth right now.

  • I can't believe it's only two days til he's out.

  • I can't believe it's only two days til he's out.

    That is amazing...

  • We’ve been counting down the days. Friday was the last Friday of Trump’s presidency, Saturday the last Saturday and so on. The kids are enjoying it, and discussing whether he’s going to jail or not.

  • Is the chair of a committee voted on, or is it just automatically the most senior member of the majority party?

    From here- https://www.senate.gov/artandhistory/history/common/briefing/Committees.htm

The Role of Seniority in Selection of Chairmen and Ranking Members

Traditionally, the majority party member with the greatest seniority on a particular committee serves as its chairman. When the Republican Party gained the majority in 1995, it altered its conference rules to allow Republicans on individual committees to vote by secret ballot for their committee's chairman, irrespective of that member's seniority. This adjustment was a logical consequence of the party's larger decision to place a six-year term limit on the service of its chairmen or, when in the minority, its ranking members.

  • To be honest a fear of democracy and protections against it have been hardwired into the American system since before there was an America - the electoral college, the first iteration of the Senate selection process, etc.

  • Yeah, for a "Democracy GOOD" country, they have a lot of "Democracy BAD" stuff going on.

  • Guliani now considered a witness to events on the 6th as both he and Trump spoke at the rally. He will not be allowed to ask as Trumps defense at sny impeachment trial in the Senate.

  • Unsurprisingly, misinformation dropped significantly after Trump and key allies blocked from Twitter.

  • I imagine they get very confused with the North Korea's official name of Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

  • Will there be a live stream of him slinking out of the White House?
I'd like to see him get inundated with delivery drivers with pizza boxes serving lawsuits in a very cliched, but cinematic way on his way out.

  • Chinese artist Ai Wei Wei has been retweeting Trumpian conspiracy theories. I write this with a huge grin on my face as it has been ages since I started telling everyone I knew (in the art world) that he is a cunt. Admittedly I have had little proof of it until now:

  • More episodes added to the Axios series of articles; features Trump trolling Sidney Powell and Barr doing a lot of swears

  • They make some interesting reading!

  • Begs the question, "when did you know about this and why weren't you reporting it before?"

  • I haven't looked into what "Political side" they are on but you are bang on. Why didn't this all come out sooner?

  • Oh my, this is awkward. This gets you sort of executed.

    https://www.inquirer.com/news/pennsylvania/riley-june-williams-capitol-attack-pelosi-laptop-harrisburg-pennsylvania-arrests-20210118.html

Federal authorities have obtained an arrest warrant for a Harrisburg woman they suspect may have stolen House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s laptop during the Jan. 6 Capitol siege with the intent of selling the device to Russia’s foreign intelligence services.

In an affidavit filed late Sunday evening, agents said they were contacted by the former romantic partner of Riley June Williams, 22, who recognized her in footage shot during the insurrectionist attack by the British network ITV.

Williams’ ex also reported having seen another video showing Williams pocketing the computer from Pelosi’s office and told investigators that Williams had said she intended to send it to a friend in Russia who would arrange the transfer to the SVR, the Russian equivalent of the CIA.

That deal fell through, Williams’ former partner told FBI agents according to the affidavit, and the laptop remains in her possession.

  • wow...

That sounds like a lifetime of pain.

She is going away for a long time.

  • 'Patriots, not traitors'

  • I think that Q Anon interprets Trump's hero worship of Putin as a sign that Russia is on their side.

Of course, Russia definitely is on their side. Just not in the way Q Anon thinks.
