• You modd a fake, with real parts? For what purpose?

    A while ago I was browsing that forum. It's such a mad little sub-hobby.

    I'd liken it to the way this forum used to put NJS parts on old converted road frames.

    Some of also seems like buying say a Rolex over time, so in the end you end up with a "real" frankenwatch. A bit like starting out with a Fuji track then upgrading every part until you ultimately upgrade the frame.

    Also using fake parts like dials allows you to do thinks like faux age, which you wouldn't want to do with an original.

    But given expensive watches aren't rational, and most hobbies aren't rational beyond 'cause I enjoy it, it' s not that crazy.

  • I guess it's like an old hammer has had 6 new handles and 3 new heads, is it still your old hammer...

    But OK. Your description is good. Thanks.

    Sounds like something @Regal would like 😂

  • Like Trigger's Sugababes of Theseus?

    I was looking at one of the Seiko mod places a while back and saw that they do dial blanks (and plain colours). I am half tempted to have a go at something! Though dial printing to any standard is tough, you kind of have to do the pad printing technique to get rid of the screenprinting "grid" on the small text.

    @freddo cheers chap!
