  • Think @hats might be the right person to ask here. Does heat (28c+) and humidity (85%+) have much of an impact on your timings?

I’ve started to run again about 3 months ago after a long layoff and can’t get my times down but mileage is up steadily. Or am I doing it wrong?

  • Daniels tables has an adjustment for temperatures - this, for example, shows adjustments to a 50min 10k

    Temperature
    16° c	18° c	21° c	24° c	27° c	29° c	32° c	35° c	38° c
    Adjusted Time
    0:50:00	0:50:23	0:50:45	0:51:08	0:51:30	0:51:53	0:52:15	0:52:38	0:53:00

Or am I doing it wrong?

That depends on way more factors than just temperature, I'd have thought

  • I find it definitely has an impact on me! My heart rate is so much higher in heat/humidity. I'm finding winter running an absolute breeze in comparison (not that you'd think it based on my run this morning, but that was more due to not having eaten for two days). My top tip is electrolyte drinks - pocari sweat! And then just be patient, you'll notice improvements soon I'm sure.
