  • pidders on the lanterne rouge podcast this week. he starts riding w/ineos in feb following CX worlds, will be riding strada and hopefully the vuelta, and will ride a big MTB block in june/july (no TDF)

  • 20% sure ‘booby lady’ is a gender neutral term.

  • Maybe I’m reading into it too much, but in that Cav vid there was absolutely no mention of working hard or training but lots of end of career, here to enjoy it. Realistically, could he win a sprint in 2021?

  • Doubtful, sadly. Someone asked him yesterday who was the best of the current crop of sprinters and he said he didn’t know as he was always too far behind them. It was meant as a joke, but the truth shone through.

  • Yeah all sounds quite defeatist but he might be wisely managing expectations.

  • I’d be very surprised to see him riding a grand tour but he might do okay at one week races if he can get a run of racing under his belt.

He deserves to get his hands in the air one more time.

  • He might be able to win at the Tour of Britain? Rest of the world doesn't really give a shit about a 2.HC and the stages haven't been set so maybe they will make it more realistic for him

  • He might be able to win a 3/4 at Hillingdon.

  • I finally got round to seeing Le vélo de Ghislain Lambert. It's great, very funny and evocative of the era. I have the DVD if anyone wants to borrow it.

  • I'm sure I've said this before, but I saw it at the Riverside in Hammersmith years ago, when they used to do a special show of cycling films on a Sunday afternoon in January. My mate told me it was a documentary so we sat in mild bafflement for the opening ten minutes or so until it dawned on us that it was a comedy.

  • These gears go up to 11.

  • I would be the only one that would lose

God the irony of this bit. I actually checked the Italian to see if that's what he actually said and yep.

Why do so many people seem to think Riccò is OK now he runs a gelateria?

    It's gelato-washing I tell you.

  • Ugh - that Richard Mille watch is the height of vulgarity. Cav is cancelled.

Have you not seen basically all Cav merch ever?

  • Because ice cream is really nice. I find it hard to comprehend that anyone who makes it could be a genuinely bad person.

  • Look up Glasgow ice cream wars!

  • Can very much recommend. Also, Coureur

Edit: spoiler alert: not a comedy

  • Sneaky UAE bastards

  • Driver has crashed into a group on a Bora-Hansgrohe training ride

  • TEAM UPDATE: Today during training, some our riders were involved in an accident with a car. Wilco Kelderman, Rüdiger Selig and Andreas Schillinger were taken to hospital, all conscious. Wilco and Rudi have sustained concussion, while Andreas is awaiting final examinations.

  • Where was their training camp?

  • Ah Italy.

  • Shit, let's hope it's not as bad as the Degenkolb crash.

  • FURTHER UPDATE:

Wilco has sustained concussion and a fractured vertebrae, while Andreas has broken vertebrae in the cervical and thoracic spine. We aim for conservative treatment with both. Rudi has concussion, but no fractures.

  • f*cking hell Kelderman again... when can this guy finally get a break instead of fractures :-(
