I always thought the attraction to gravel bikes (and the reason they sell so well) was that they're the antithesis to lycra-clad roadie bro machismo. In other words, literally drop bar hybrids. But now the roadies have climbed aboard the gravel train, and you can buy yourself a £4k gravel wagon, so that seems to have gone out the window.
I don't know, but that's part of it - your average plebian who's buying a bike won't have heard of Rapha. They just walk into Evans and an Arkose is one of the most practical bikes in the shop
