  • yeah that sucks. I suspect a lot of these sentiments are borne out of a fear of the loss of privilege as historically marginalised voices are amplified through direct action. Most "liberals" in SA were more than happy to benefit from the inhuman policies of the National Party. Plenty of whites would clutch at their pearls while at their suburban dinner parties at the thought of Mandela languishing in prison while their kids were being raised by the maid...

    don't mistake liberalism for progressive-ism. if that's even a thing.

  • Pieter-Dirk Uys used to skewer this kind of thing. Think he's mostly retired now, though.
