Integrated crown race?

Hi,

I am trying to replace a headset in a 2012 Fuji Classic frameset. I am running into issues with the crown race removal though. The race will not budge, and upon closer inspection, it seems it may be built-in. Has anyone got any idea if that may be the case?

It wont be integrated, its just the fork has a crown race seat with a lip that's wider than the crown race.

They can be a total pita to remove. Try wedging (maybe hammering) something really fine in there. A fine screwdriver, maybe a stanley blade.

You'll need to start with things so slim that you'll not be able to use them as a lever. Work your way up to something thick enough to lever the race up or until you can get a crown race remover in there.

+1 for tapping a Stanley blade in. Stick it in a vice (if you have one) and try and get a small gap all the way around, then move up to something thicker (flathead screwdriver etc) to widen the gap and eventually bring it off.
