  • OK here's a weird one ... Thinking about full guards on fome carbon rigid MTB forks with no holes or eyelets.

    So plan to avoid P clips is:
    Forks have a sub 10mm drain hole facing downwards on the alu sockety thing where the ends bond to the crabon. I'm thinking of threading this, amd attaching a small steel plate with holes and a bend in it to neatly fix stays for the guard. Or even just twist the stays so they face the right way and bolt directly to the hole. For the top hanger (forks have no drilling at the crown) I'm going to add a star nut up the steerer (maybe need to reduce the length of the star's flanges a bit).

    Will I die? Is the tapping thing madness? Would probably add a touch of threadlock to my M10 bolt there.

  • I think it will be fine from what you’ve said and I would absolutely recommend threadlock + low-ish torque :)
