I think anyone can join the club without invitation, it's just the tournament that is invite only.

I'm really struggling with the 10 min format. I run through some permutations in my head for a crucial turn and end up using so much time I have to blitz the rest of the game. Keep losing with stupid blunders.
The longer tournament games were much better.

Just try and keep an eye on your opponents time and not take too much longer on your move than they do.
Obviously don't go nuts tho if they a firing moves mega quick. You want to take a bit of time to get a sound opening but at the same time try to save your seconds for the later stages.
It's hard in our tournaments where there is quite a discrepancy between ratings because more experienced players will simply be quicker. Try playing outside the tournament though with matches around your own rating and you may grow to like them. You learn a lot by playing more games and looking back afterwards at the mistakes you made. Try not to worry about losing either.
Daily games are good, but you can pour over the analysis board forever which I don't actually think is a good habit.
Sorry - unsolicited advice, just an opinion. I prefer the quick games

Thanks, it is appreciated.
Wierdly I can easily beat the computer at equivalent ratings but fall foul of real people. I think the further away from predictable moves it is the harder it gets.I'm playing regularly in the 10 min games, and trying different tactics etc. I'm hoping it'll click soon.

I'm up for a game if you want to beat me again
-
• #291
Yeah, sounds good, a day time limit? Or maybe a 10 min game this evening?
-
• #292
longer format generally works best for me so we could start one and then maybe also do a fast 10 mins later

• #293
Challenge sent. I hope.

I'll start the tournament today.
It is currently 14 of us, so we will be in two groups of 7. Everyone plays everyone twice. Then top 3 go through to a final group of 6.
Still time to join, I'll start it at midday ish
Good luck!

apologies in advance, i barely know how to play
Also apologies to the player who I timed out against, ended up being a hectic end of the week for me.
I thought I’d blown it. I was hoping for mate about four moves earlier but it was like sand slipping through fingers. So glad to be playing again. Chess is such a good game.
