They look decent! Have you tried the Sainsbury's shroom dogs? Most non carpety vegan sausage I've tried.

On a related note, the M&S Plant Kitchen marshmallows are incredible

Try the Beyond Meat sausages, they're like a fiver for 2 so a proper splurge treat but they are MASSIVE.
Another shout for the Sainsbury's shroom dogs, they have good "snap" which is rare for a vegan sausage.
the M&S Chorizo puppies are also great.

Yes! Shroomdogs for dinner tonight the choritzo bangers in a chicpea and smokey stew.
-

No, but was just unloading a Saino's delivery, so will maybe investigate next time, cheers! Will check out Beyond Meat as well. :)

Oooft, that's a good idea actually! Love the chorizo shroom dogs. The downside being that you can't not taste them for the rest of the day.

Today's sausages were a mix of shroomdogs and Richmond, both good but I think I prefer the Richmond as they're really like a cheapo meat sausage, or I think they are, it's been about 20 years since I've had one on purpose.

• #8459
I do enjoy a Richmond as well! Definitely hits the "shit hospital canteen sausage" spot.

Yeah, another hand up for cheapo tasting Richmonds here. They remind me of the meat sausages in the sausage sandwiches I used to eat when I worked in a BT call centre when I was 18... 17 years ago.. fuck.
-

If you skin Richmonds and then stick them in some premade pastry they make amazing sausage rolls
Also had some success over Christmas using them as part of a Wellington innards. Skin them, mix with stuffing mix (already wetted), toasted nuts and any herbs you like. It binds really well!

Second go at tempeh - looks great this time, way more solid white around the soy. Went for a third freekeh two thirds soy beans, should be nice and smokey.

I got my starter here: https://www.topcultures.com/
Dead easy, de hulling is annoying. Then it’s just a case of finding a good place to let it grow. My oven with the light on & door open was too warm, boiler cupboard was perfect.

Instagram just informed me that fruit pasteles are vegan now!
Not too big into sweets but as a kid these were one of my favourites

Boo Nestlé though.

I like the protein works vegan blend. Never pay full price though, there’s almost always an offer available for around 50% off.
They also do a vegan wonder shake that seems to be very well reviewed but I’ve not tried it as it’s pretty expensive. Finally finished my batch from Bulk Powders and placed an order with Protein Works. First impressions (of the vegan extreme blend) are very good and certainly much nicer than Bulk Powders. I thought I was doomed to just dealing with the horrid taste.

I forgot to mention that I went to Rudy's Vegan Butcher recently. Everything I got was very good and I can recommend it.
As someone else said, everything there was ready-packed, but they had a slicing machine and something else that I didn't look at too closely there. She said that they were introducing them now. I think an important part of cruel butcher's shops is the theatre--slicing sausage, for example--and that you can get various small quantities of whatever takes your fancy, so I hope all that works well for them.
Somehow, I think 'Rudy the Vegan Butcher' would be a better name--she is the vegan butcher. It seems to me that it would make it more personal. 'Rudy's Vegan Butcher's Shop' would work better than the existing name, I think, which is at best ambiguous.
But apart from all that, yes, a very good addition to the landscape, so make sure you go if it's local to you.

Thanks very much, once we move I'll give it a go, I must have somewhere the right temp in the new place as I'll have more room generally.

If anyone cares, one of the GCN guys is doing veganuary. Might be sure interesting info re: cycle training specifically for some people.

I put my Wahoo ELEMNT in the various bits of the house to measure temp over time 🤓
28 degrees seems good - bit less than recommended incidentally.

Haha excellent tip.

My OH bought me the Dishoom vegan naan roll breakfast kit for my birthday to make the indoor birthday a bit special and it was amazing, would highly recommend as a weekend treat!

fuck that looks good
My other half has been having sausage cravings lately (matron!), so I'm pleased to discover that the recently enlarged M&S "Plant Kitchen" range includes these rather tasty bangers. Possibly the first vegan banger I've tried (out of not many, tbf) which doesn't feel and taste like a small rolled-up carpet.
