Argh, had another go at trying to find the Touring Sylvan in black online and failed.
Out of exasperation I bought the bear trap ones from Tokyo bike!Thank you, pricey but I agree they are a great choice!

Haha sorry!
They are monies! But I reckon they will look tasty

Limited progress this weekend... Although partially due to lack of parts and consumable (I thought I had more brake and great cables at home!)
The pedals from Tokyo Bike didn't arrive, they apparently had issues with ups. I stole the pedals from my Pashley so I could at least try the bike, with just the front brake on and without front derailleur.
My cassette, which isn't new (although I thought it was pretty new - also thought it was 8 speed and it's 10, my memory of what things are has eroded with this lengthy refurb process), slips on a couple of sprockets so I need a new one (chain is new 7-8 speed Shimano, so I'll go 8 speed cassette as I don't want to bin that). Anyone knows the max size an old Deore DX MTB long cage derailleur can handle? (Up to 34t ok?) I'm using the thumb shifters as friction so not bothered about pull increment too much.
Otherwise I'm one rear brake cable and one front derailleur cable away from properly trying the bike...
I was pleased that the front brake with power hanger wasn't the head f***k I feared it would be. I may place the inline adjustable barrel somewhere else ultimately, looks a bit weird maybe here.@jontea will probably wonder why, after my requests for pictures on other threads, I've posted hardly any myself... It was night time when I could try the bike yesterday. But, I did a .GIF of the front brake!

Lunch break mini 15 minutes ride to the local woods... I need to raise the saddle by 4-6mm, and ride again once I've sorted the missing cables and cassette)

Looks alright doesn't it?
Mudguards? -
• #559
Thanks, I love these brakes, thanks again for letting me have them!
I previously had mudguards on the bike and plan to install some. Logic would suggest they are silver, and the set I have (still in perfect condition) is black hammered from VO. O kind of wonder if I really need to go silver with this or of black would actually work... I'll mock it up to see...

Looks rad! Really classy. Hows it feel fit wise with the new stem?
What about black hammered fenders? I got Mario to colour match some hammered to a frame he did for me. Came out nice.
Or go mad and spend £225 on a pair from Simworks!?!

Black hammered would look great

Thanks!
It feels great, stem is tall (taller than my previous set-up) and position is very comfy so far (on a not so representative short ride). I love the bars but they are a tat narrow (fine in the drops though). I'll try to stick with them for now, not sure Nitto does this model wider (45cm at the drops).
If I go black mudguards, I'll use the battered VO I already have! I've already bought the posh pedals you suggested, built is on a diet now! :)If I go silver, probably GB... Had some years ago and loved their mega sturdy-ness

Looks nice! I'm not the biggest fan of that stem though...

Very nice indeed! I thought about asking Winston to make me a stem similar to yours, but without the stack, don't think I'd get it around the bulge on the drops of my bars though.
Pics wise, quality not quantity! -

Yeah i those battered VO would be nice.
Also think it would look great for the summer with fatter tyres
I love my Nitto m137ssb which are 54 - totally transformed my riding at that width.
Looks so so good Loic - great all rounder and a credit to Winston

Do it, I don't know why I waited years before asking him to make mine...
but without the stack
You'll see, young man, when you're my age!

It's not often I get called 'young man' , I'm on the darker side of my mid 40s!

These wide Nitto bars sound good... But I really wanted these, with the raised bit before the drop... I'll reconsider at the next bar tape change! (That's going to take years! )

Hehe! We're the same then...
Let's say I'm preemptively making my bikes "friendlier"... -

And this has arrived tonight!

probably GB.
Needless to say the only valid choice here. The metal paint has really grown on me, to the point that I think that colour-matched mudguards would be a nice option. Extra points for a touch of orange (from the logo).

I think the hammered VO guards would look really smart on this. I have a set on my slightly darker pelago, with mostly silver components as well, and I can't imagine changing them for silver guards..

Just bought the same. Read they were really hard to set up but looks great.
