  • 6 years... and the frame collapsed, slightly... basically the rear legs folded themselves in on themselves but the frame rather than the legs. Its repairable if they are shitty about the warranty but also temped to bin it and get something new.

  • Lockdown + too many mincers?

    Sofas are hard, I hate most sofas. I think the sofas most people go for are horribly ugly so I have to bite my tongue and pretend I think they're nice.

  • Yeah would agree, much like babies! Did a trawl of inso on TMH and thought all were pretty gross, apart from the one in this sales listing (one of my faves) https://www.themodernhouse.com/sales-list/blurton-road-ii/

  • Not sure if you're looking for an ID or not but it's a Muuto Outline

  • Basically was, without explicitly stating I wanted to copy, so thanks!

  • I wanna get a Toga sofa, defo not everyone idea of nice but I think they look class. Very pricey new thought.

  • Yeah same, assuming you mean togo... Mrs says we need a sofas with arms though, go figure.

  • We did a lot of looking for sofas, there are loads of really ugly ones out there. Ended up with some DFS ones as nothing was ideal and I'd rather spend £700 on something not perfect rather than £3.5k.

  • IKEA Tidafors FTW

  • Not least because it sounds like Potato Force

  • We've ordered an Oka sofa which looks good, however I have doubts about it fitting as it doesn't have removable legs. Wtf.

    It potentially could be delivered the same day we replace the bay windows but then it wouldn't come out again without cutting off the legs.

  • Most recent one we decided to shop local so got one from H.J.Cooper in Putney. The Commodore. £1350 I think, took 4 weeks or so from ordering. Recommended.

  • also a fan of the HAVSTEN, which is supposedly an outside sofa but don't see an issue with using it inside. would need cushions at the sides, if you wanted to lie down on it tho

    basically, I want a sofa that is DEEP and SLOUCHY

  • We are also looking to get a Muuto so you are in good company. Or horribly uncultured. Who knows.

    But yes. 99% of sofas are awful. Most of the Habitat ones included.

  • Mate.... I get massive discount there.

  • I bought a 2 seater Togo from eBay (£400) 10 years ago as a stop gap while we renovated our last house. Very comfy and still going strong but in a bedroom now, low and my mum always complained as she could not get out of it. It was perfect for a weekend snooze with a baby on your chest though...

  • Yeah Togo are very specific type of sofa because of their height. They’re as you story attests to very hard wearing

  • Really wanted to use them for our house. Recommended?

  • These guys are the real deal;

    Used to upholster for Tom Dixon, amoungst others, producing the Wingback chair made infamously for Soho House.

    Highly recommend these guys, small family business, used to upholster for The Conran Shop - mostly their Content By Conran collection;

  • SCP/Matthew Hilton Balzac in Utah Russet leather

  • I have this outside on the deck. Feels like an outy to me, fabric is quite tough.

  • Is it comfy? what's the quality like? And how easy to assemble/dis-assemble?

    I was looking at that but was worried it would be a pita to put together and take apart when the weather got naff (most of the time..)

  • southern softy confirmed... ; )

  • @konastab01 a pal reports the Toga is not at all comfortable for decent periods, its squishy and feels nice, but gives her back ache and makes her fidgety

  • Quality and comfort is pretty good, I’d recommend it. Easy to whip all the cushions off if it’s raining and get a cover to go over the base. I put the whole thing away for winter so not sure about disassembling it.
