I really wanted to hang onto this, but ill health combined with moving house is forcing me to downsize my fleet.
I was very lucky to find a LeMond Tourmalet in my size that was in original, unmolested condition, complete with all the original equipment. It was a barn find… it still has the retailer’s decal (Evans), the original ‘size 53cms’ decal, and even came with the original reflectors and bell fitted by the retailer when I got my hands on it. It is 1999 vintage.
When I got it I completely stripped the bike down to every last nut & bolt, cleaning, checking and lubing everything, and boxed it all up ready to rebuild it to its former glory someday. Life however got in the way. I had a heart attack last November, we’re moving house, and I have 9 other bikes anyway - far too many for me to take care of nowadays.
So, I’m seeing if anybody wants an original LeMond - either as a rolling chassis (as pictured), or I can supply all the original Shimano RSX 8spd groupset that came with it too (the left crank arm is kaput however as the threads stripped).
The frame is straight & true, with no dings or dents but it does have the to-be-expected cable rub and paint chips. It is however in fine condition.
It’s made from Reynolds 525, has a BSA 68mm BB shell, 27.2mm seatpost, 1 inch threaded headset, and semi-horizontal dropouts - so could be easily converted to fixed/singlespeed.
Size:
ST: 53cms c-to-c (56cms c-to-top)
TT: 54.5cms c-to-c
The stated size is ’53cms’ but note that LeMond stated their sizing differently than most other manufacturer’s, it’s an equivalent 54/55cms when compared to other frames. See actual geo in picture.
I can also supply a pdf of the original LeMond 1999 Catalogue.
£315 for the rolling chassis as pictured or £395 for the complete bundle including Shimano RSX 8spd groupset.
Can be posted, or possible collection from Clapham (when I can get into Town… which may not be at all soon).
I’m based near Billingshurst, West Sussex. Or I could meet someone at Guildford station if possible (15-20mins from Waterloo).
