Re: I’d get some gorgeous old school V Brakes, ones with lots of adjust so you can convert to 27.5 with them if you like. Or if you really want cantis, instead of a hanger, get yourself an old style mtb stem with a hole that is a cable stop. The adjuster sits in it. Could be very ‘right’ for this bike somehow. I put one on my Yates tandem that has another centre-pull type brake, and i have a spare.
They’re called Tioga T-bone. I painted mine red when got the frame finished. Unfortunately the spare is re-painted purple (they originally were black powder) so I guess you might want to have it painted silver if you use it. 1”steerer, old school mtb rise, about 13cm reach.

This looks a good idea for this, thanks

Another good idea. I have stem(s) now for this that I’m kind of in for the hanger option.
Is that a nitto front rack? I bought I think the same and couldn’t fit it due to canti mount and brake hole alinement

^It’s one of the various things called Nitto Campée. It doesn’t attach to a fork crown hole, just pairs of lowrider bosses on fork blades & ends
^^ I reckon you should just add a spacer to use your crown hanger then. Use a beefy bolt. It’ll be fine.

I think the parts list looks great. MKS beartrap XCII copy looks nice, I just picked up some for no good reason.

Same. Bought mine last week from Tokyo bikes, to pickup but can’t get in touch with them to see if they’re open

i think it sounds great

Interesting. I’ll get the thing on the rd then try to work out racks if needed. They have all the bosses for racks and mudguards. I’m fact I bought mudguards but were too wide for the drop outs

Cheers I’ll see how I get on. Bought some tektro power boosters so will see how that works out first

Such a cool frameset.
The red and silver combo is odd, but I really like it.

Very minor update, CK headset fitted. Henry hoover attachment tube makes a great crown race fitter.
The guy I bought it from also didn’t want to send it too me after the sale as he found the seatpost was seized. I said I didn’t mind but he was insistent either he got it removed and reamed or the deal was off so I casually agreed 😅
Gave me a better than advertised seatpost for it and today I found the remnants of this right down the bottom of the seat tube, was proper bunged up I couldn’t see it through the BB

Need to get the wheels built up next, recommended builders near e17, happy to go to my shops neighbours 2 wheels good on church st N16. Need to calculate an unusual combination of HF Phil wood and Ryde 40 rims , for quite short spokes. Favoured spoke calculator anyone?

I use https://leonard.io/edd/ which was written by @ehren_fried_chicken

Thanks. No Ryde andra 40 on there though. Try to work it out myself or just pass hubs and rims over, at 36h these are going to be proper stiff pair

That said when I bought it it had Mavic mtb 26’ rims laced to campagnolo sheriff star pista hubs likely from the Dave Yates original sale
can confirm it has saddle washers!
