Clearly banning Hilter from public speaking in 1925 didn’t stop him or his ideas being a problem.
The best argument I heard for not banning Trump from Twitter was:
“Let him speak, enforce the law - prosecute him for inciting violence”
As an ideal I can’t fault that but it ignores some practicalities specific to Trump (it’s not a crime in the US to incite violence and the President has immunity to prosecution).

The fallacy that Trump can’t speak directly to the public anymore when he could do a live press conference every day on every channel if he wasn’t such a a lazy oaf
-
• #14531
But it’s a much smaller scale if he just does an interview on one channel and people would have to tune in, not just click on Twitter. Plus he can’t control the narrative as he is likely to say stupid shit when a camera is out in front of him and very soon his bullying power as POTUS will be gone (you can’t say that to me as president etc). So yes he has access but it’ll be on such a limited scale moving forward.
He could organise press conferences but will be mauled by journalists in future.

By 1925 Hitler had incited a riot / failed coup and been jailed for it, so that didn’t stop him either. It didn’t stop his ideas from spreading, correct, but the alternative (letting him speak freely in public) may well have seen an acceleration and extension of what happened in the end. You can’t outlaw an idea, but you can try and stop / slow that idea being weaponised.

Yeah, used to skateboard with him. He always seemed an intelligent, peaceful person. Has travelled a lot. Absolutely terrifying to see how it slowly developed.

that didn’t stop him either.
The trial was the platform he needed.

When this all comes out in the wash, you will look back at Biden and DT and the history
books will record DT as the hero and Biden as the villain. I know that seems
incomprehensible to you now.
You only see history when you look back in hindsight. With this insight into hindsight, could your facebook contact please provide some lottery winning ticket numbers for the next few months? Asking for a friend...

Trump did everything possible to cripple the response to the rampage.
The chief of the Capitol Police is a Trump lackey. The CP were strangely understaffed on the day.
Pentagon leaders were Trump appointeees and said no to request for help from Mayor.
Magats were all over twitter planning the January 6 riot in plain sight.
No excuse for law enforcement no being ready, everyone saw it coming.Infuriating that Trump now claims he called out the NG immediately.
Fucking lying asshole.Regarding the magat woman shot by police- Secret Service were on the hallway on the other side of the door she was climbing through. The agents were hustling Pence and family out of danger, while the mob was chanting "Hang Pence Hang Pence". Not surprising she got shot.
The crowd had assembled a fully functioning gallows outside. They openly tweeted about lynching traitors, including Pence. They had zip tie cuffs for hostage taking. There are vids of rioters searching the Senate Chamber for anyone hiding. This was very close to disaster. The Senate was still in session as the doors to the building were breached. The senators were lucky to escape.

But what do you think they would have done if they’d got access to the senators? It all seemed strangely aimless once inside – stealing lecterns, etc. Do you think they had intent to do physical harm? I can’t read it very well. The Jamiroquai guy is confusing me.
First-The intent was to force the Senators to overturn the Electoral College votes and appoint Trump as President.
Second-Execute traitors, primarily Pence, Pelosi, Schiff. AOC, and Ilhan Omar.It only became aimless when the rioters found the Senate empty.

I am telling you what I saw live on twitter. An unbelievable amount of video was produced. Some is still there.
(edited out my errors)
Re the objectives...the magats are still posting the same stuff and vowing to come back stronger on the 19th. -

In the clip with the woman being shot, it's armed police behind her. They even signal through the broken glass.
It's on Reddit in /publicfreakout, sickeningly, the policeman being beaten is too. -

In the real world, arrests of putsch participants rolling in, including the guy who chased the Capitol cop up the stairs.
Several states have suspended policeman and firefighters who took part and are investigating more. U.S. Army allegedly also investigating and charging troops who attended.
