Are you mostly riding the sanctioned trail here or other bits? Never really explored Leith fully, only really know the Summer Lightening trail.

didn't do too much of Summer Lightning today but these trails have been here for years and aren't contested or illegal. There was only one trail we saw today that had signs on it saying don't ride here or words to that effect.

Frost and filth on the SDW this morning and my reverb shit itself as soon as it went out in the cold. Worked for the couple of pre ride checks then stopped working as soon as wanted to use it and now working fine again now its back indoors π‘ useful eh?

Not the usual stunning views from the tops. Only had about 10 metres viability at some points. Good job i know my way round.

Any one using one of these? Any good? I was getting seriously peppered on the downhills. I only want something minimal for aesthetics but I'd like it to stop me getting sheep shit up my nose.

Use a different version, but yes, they're excellent

You use a different version or i should get a different version than the one pictured ? It's a rockguardz. I just looked at their website first because I've had other bits from them before and the quality is good. What have you got?

As in, I have a different version, but the type of mudguard is excellent. Personally I wouldn't worry about exact make and model - the core idea doesn't vary, and in my experience they're much of muchness.

Nice one I'll get one ASAP I'm still cleaning mud out of my ears π

You do spend less time trying to find the source of clicks and creaks itβs true.
This is true if you don't keep em clean, or pack the bearings well.

No particular views from Leith Hill Tower today either but it was still spectacular. Kind of above and below the clouds at the same time

It looks nice up there if a bit eerie

Yeah, had to wait for all the tourists to move out of the way before I got that shot, darn place was rammed with lockdown walkers suddenly wanting to get to the great outdoors

Yeah the covid tourism has increased the walkers on the downs 10x but no more riders than usual βΉοΈ i was on the brakes on all the usually fun downhills just incase someone popped up out of the mist.

Good recognition of the tree and your shot

I have Leith Hill from 2005. Sadly, I've got the angle all wrong

And the season

haha, nice one. It's a top spot

never mind, you just need to remember that it's not too long until it's warm and dry with hard-packed fast trails again. Here's a quick edit I pulled together yesterday of the SDW section of my Epsom to Brighton off-road ride #26aintdead

Nice vid i subscribed whilst I was there π

Voucher deployed! I went for the Orange. I'm going to find some mudguards.
Any other essential beginner kit recommendations?

RRP do a direct mount mud guard for that Fox fork, looks neat works well and is pretty cheap.

Thanks dogs, snotty, abr, t13. I think I'll leave this in the too-hard basket unless I see something good and cheap appear magically before my eyes.
another chilly ride out on Leith hill with my boy but at least a few days dry weather and the cold had firmed the ground up even if it made the exposed tree roots a bit sketchy
