So I have a bike at last!
Picked it up from Seabass a few days ago. Yesterday I went to see Scherritt to get dialled-in on it (and to finally get numbers for the Saffron).

Not yet!
The main reason I took it to Scherritt's was to figure out how much layback I needed before choosing a proper seatpost.
The current one is an old Kalloy from the parts bin: It has 25mm layback and puts the clamp 5-7mm behind the middle of the rails (hard to be precise because the top and bottom parts of the clamp don't actually line up). Therefore to get the clamp in the middle I'll need a seatpost with about 18-20mm layback....
So:
- 18-20mm ish layback
- 27.2
- preferably carbon
- as black as possible, preferably gloss to match the stem.
- in keeping with the build, so nothing very obviously designed for compact geometry with miles of post showing. And I guess nothing too aero / spaceship / melted looking.
- Preferably available new from a shop in or near the uk so I don't have to wait too long!
- under £100
Suggestions welcome!

So, as a welcome rando surprise, I saw this bike in the steel the other day when gaz spotted me in Peckham. Suffice to say it's a fucking minger, and he ought to throw it in the bin.

Current forerunners are, from L-R:
- S-Works, 20mm... too expensive
- Deda Superzero, 21mm... the finish is slightly too grey for my liking and it has ugly graphics (although I can kill them with acetone). Otherwise pretty good and on offer at Wiggle atm.
- Whisky Parts No 7, 18mm... not easily available, graphics will disappear into the frame.
- Condor Supremacy, 15mm... aesthetically this is pretty much what I'm after but it doesn't have quite enough layback. And it irks me that they've written the word 'supremacy' on it. In white, no less.

Ritchey WCS 1 bolt seatpost, 20mm offset, about £70.

Cheers!
The graphics would have to die but otherwise that looks like a decent option (not carbon but 190g is more than light enough).

This is why you should have gone silver stem n seatpost, Nitto stem with S65 seatpost ;)

Noiiiiice!

Doesn't Nitto do black?
Anyway, while I love the Nitto seat post I bought recently because it's so nicely made, it's not light at all (had Thomson before, there's quite a difference!) -

incredible, pls more pictures

They don't seem to offer seatposts in black, Sim Works by Nitto do, but out of stock.
A seatpost is a component I don't mind a little extra material/weight. -

So they do, yep 18mm according to some sites, 25mm on others, 24mm on Nitto's own site, so let's go with 24mm.

Gonna do proper pics when there's a seatpost in place... I'm determined to get photos of it while it's still new so I'm currently trying to resist the extremely strong urge to take it for a ride this afternoon!
Believe it or not, I have never owned a brand new bike until now... (Technically the rims are used but I won't tell anyone if you don't).

I'll believe Nitto!
Was thinking Simworks would be awesome on this because the little heart would match the one on the frame. -

Sod it, it's just a seatpost, go for a ride.
You can always wash n wax it when you get the right seatpost, then take some arty photos. -

I too have considered a SW post and stem because of the hearts! Maybe after Easter, when my bank account may have recovered slightly.

Ooh yes, that's a great choice. I see what you mean about the fittings, they'd go be perfect with the rotors and the guards etc.
Meccano robot aesthetics ftw.

I think I've narrowed it down to either Deda or Condor.
Condor have both in stock atm so I'll head down tomorrow and see them irl before I choose.
Then go for a ride in the afternoon!

Also, I just made this:

I second this, cracking pedals for road SPD. Didn't know they came in a full silver finish, looks way better than mine which are a little scratched up with metal cleats now.
Also, top inspiration this thread! Looking forward to seeing the full completed bike.
