The main reason I took it to Scherritt's was to figure out how much layback I needed before choosing a proper seatpost.
The current one is an old Kalloy from the parts bin: It has 25mm layback and puts the clamp 5-7mm behind the middle of the rails (hard to be precise because the top and bottom parts of the clamp don't actually line up). Therefore to get the clamp in the middle I'll need a seatpost with about 18-20mm layback....
So:
- 18-20mm ish layback
- 27.2
- preferably carbon
- as black as possible, preferably gloss to match the stem.
- in keeping with the build, so nothing very obviously designed for compact geometry with miles of post showing. And I guess nothing too aero / spaceship / melted looking.
- Preferably available new from a shop in or near the uk so I don't have to wait too long!
- under £100
