Flat prices in Edinburgh are mental too depending where it is but the again moving from London to there will seem like a total steal. As london price are like monopoly money.

Oh yeah, for sure. I moved back here from Lahndahn a few years ago :)
There's definitely a few places where you can get most of a 1 bed flat for £75k, but it won't be like the one in the article!

Nah will it fuck be, that'll be somewhere nice and expensive for sure.

First floor in the newtown somewhere. Almost floor to ceiling windows, probably one of the most expensive flats in Edinburgh

I don't unfortunately, from an earlier post:
they were bought from one of the large tile warehouses in uddingston
(just outside glasgow.) they were simple plain white 15x15 tiles.
topps were quoting £15 psqm - we went round the corner to this
warehouse place and they were roughly £1.70/£2 psqm if I recall

If I was looking to buy and saw that floor I’d just be thinking about how much of a pain in the arse it would be to remove.
To me it just looks cheap, and I don’t get why it’s made a comeback. What next? PVC stick on tiles full of asbestos? Sticky backed plastic?

our cork tiles used a slotted/grooved click system, like laminate. would be a piece of piss to lift if required. think the cork sits on top of an HDF moisture resistant board
@Señor_Bear will yours be glued down ?

I hope they have a chip sauce dispenser somewhere in that kitchen, that’s what I’d do if I lived in Edinburgh.

I like the cork tiles. Any pictures around of nice finished rooms with them?

here's a picture our installer took of ours, doesn't show the full room though: https://www.instagram.com/p/CF1WdR9l-a7/
here's another installation they did, with a darker shade of cork - though not to my taste does show you a full room: https://www.instagram.com/p/CIafR3nl3vs/

Thanks I like it . 2nd one is a bit Abigails party but they’re obviously going for that.
Just been down a rabbit hole and found some crazy patterned cork tile jobs. Already shot down by Mrs jv 👎

FWIW I don't like cork tiles, feels very 70's to me. I think my gran had them in her flat when I was young.
But each to their own! Makes sense the same way a laminate worktop does.

I don't know, I just read the articles!
I doubt they did the work themselves, they're architects, it's their job to come up with expensive difficult to implement ideas then have a paddy when trades struggle to execute them ;)
Seriously though when Luke worked on our project he was very sensible. But yeah, no architects fees, obviously. For me it's been helpful because it's shown me ways we could save money on doing our place, such as Ikea kitchen (I think ours will be mostly Ikea with some dbr magic) and cheap tiles...
This article has more links to the exact stuff they used:

I knew it, it just had to happen that Dov would make a choice for his own house that not everybody agrees with. Ban him!

I used the same type out in the garden office. Weird how it sparks such strong feeling!

Just picked up some pink tiles from topps tiles, half the price of claybrooke but gross.
Not looking like I’m going to find any decent cheap pink tiles, maybe they stopped making them after the 70’s?

Try original style
The main point though was that a modest material, designed and installed well, can look superb. So no need to get the money gun out for tiles.
