• Just use extenders and pack one of those tiny plastic tools to remove them in your bag, never had a problem.
    Also comes handy to borrow shallow valve tubes in an emergency and remove valve cores if the valve breaks.

  • Exactly what I carry. Definitely don't choose rim depth based in inner tube valve length!

    And forget about what the comparative time difference is between a shallow and a deep section on an all out effort, if you are riding 35kmh-45kmh kind of speeds (which is not unreasonable) then it's easier to hold your speed with a deeper rim and that's going to be more fun.

    If you're cruising about at lower speeds, then yeah, get some kinlins.

  • I have one of those in my bag for tubeless bikes and have plenty I could chuck into my road kit, which includes superpatches. All stays on the bike, so missing those bits isn’t a concern unless my saddle pack were to fall off.
