Beautiful product... unfortunately very pricy.
There was also talk of pashley re introducing the gb components brand not sure if it ever materialised for a throughly british build. -

surely with pedals like those it simply cannot be a parts bin build now?
-
• #29
To be fair, I've got a pretty decent parts bin.
Outside of the pedals - which were a Christmas gift - I will use parts I already have;
Wheels, shifters, crankset, mech's etc.
I don't have any cantilever brakes in stock, so will need to buy those, and I've already bought stem, bars and a front rack. I've had a custom bag on order for ages from Cory Brenn, and that will go on this.
I've currently got two potential wheelsets earmarked - one with Record Hubs, one with Royce.
Was in the shed just now, looking at the forks and my hacksaw. Never a good idea to start a build when you're two glasses of wine in!

Managed to get a bit of shed-time in this morning and fitted the headset.
Have left a spacer stack for now, as will need room for cable-hanger, decaleur etc..
Really need to source a couple of missing parts and crack on with this:

I have just spent some time removing and greasing all of the bolts attached to this frame, of which there are an astonishing x24.
Every thread was perfectly tapped, and there were no issues of paint incursion.
I continue to be amazed at the value for money this frame represents.

Made a bit of a ‘schoolboy error’ in my selection of cable hanger.
Popped down to Grays Inn Road today, and I think I now have the correct part.
A bit too bloody cold for me to go in the shed tonight. All these years living down south have turned me soft.

That's gonne be quite ambitious cable routing. Maybe try a flexible V-brake noodle?

I've bought a fork mounted cable hanger.
I'll have a play with it tomorrow.
If I had any balls at all, I'd just drill and tap a hole in the stem.

Or you could try and find a headset hanger with a longer reach... that one is weirdly short, no?
I used a fork mounted hanger for a while and found it difficult to get the cable set up properly - the headset was in the way and I had to use a chunky spacer to clear it, which pushed the cable out so it couldn't run straight down to the bridge. The whole thing was very inelegant.

Loving this!

I've got one of those hangers with a longer reach somewhere.
The fork mounted one I got from Condor today, it was only about £6.99. It's not particularly attractive, so if it works I might have to go the whole £15.00 for a nice Dia Compe one.
Once I've got the hanger sorted, there's the whole palaver of setting up cantilever brakes to consider, before I inevitably find out it all gets in the way of my decaleur.
Good thing I don't have to worry about having a job anymore!

Nothing is ever easy.
The fork mounted cable hanger I bought from Condor isn’t designed to clear the bottom race of the headset.
I could maybe try a spacer, but it needs a fair bit of clearance, so I’m not sure.

Yeah that seems it was designed for newer frames with hidden headset

Or more spacers

I always thought these were quite an elegant solution
No idea how well they work, but might suit your build
