  • Which one does @amey have

Is a question that should never be asked

  • Heard yesterday that my Cotic Bfe Max that I ordered last August and was meant to be with me beginning of December will be landing at the the end of Jan so I should see it around Valentine’s Day ❤️

  • It pained me to say but it does seem he’s made a sensible xc hardtail choice!

  • Love mine; its procaliber. The mid level carbon. I have upgraded shock to SID SL ultimate and wheels to lightbicycle carbon.

  • BB7s are the next upgrade, right?

  • if I hadnt gone with XTR levers (and MT400 brakes lol) I was looking at Magura

  • MT400 brakes lol

The 2021 version comes with MT200

  • Right let me post this in the correct place..

needs upgrade disk brakes and 1x12 gearing.. but still. also need new skirting boards..

  • Nice bike . Just bought an old Santa Cruz Tallboy and upgraded from 3by9 by 1by12 and new brakes. Super happy with outcome and will sort some pictures at the weekend .

  • What’s you brake budget?

If you’re not wanting to spend vast amounts and want new I’d suggest Deore or SLX.
    Good performance, easy to bleed

  • please can someone recommend a flat mtb shoe? Or is it five tens all the way (££)? Got some really nice and sticky burgtec flat pedals, but have been using some adidas trainers.
They're fine - but get shitted up this time of year easily. Might get a separate winter pair of something waterproof for when it's a mud bath? Cheers

  • Had pairs of 5 tens and currently using the Specialized 2FOs

Really impressed with them. Not for winter though as they’re very vented.

Go and check 5 tens out before you buy if you can though as some come with stiff soles and others don’t.
    Stiff soles for the win!

  • loooooonnnnngggggest

Any more details on this, whos the frame builder?

for sale here at just £3750

  • How do you like the isospeed? Worth it or gimmick? Does seem v good value for a carbon race bike

  • I went most of my life riding in trainers sneering at folk wearing pointless mtb shoes. That was until a few years ago and got some five tens. Couldn't ever go back now.
The soles are mad grippy, almost too grippy. They actually feel better once they've been used for a few weeks.
When brand new foot placement can be like - that's not quiet right, lift off and back on again a few times before placement feels right. But after a bit of use it becomes easier to reposition your foot without having to completely lift of the pedal.

They are a bit pricey but I got freerider pros in the sale for £70 on the Adidas website last year. Keep your eye out for some in the sale.
    Highly recommended.

  • I could prolly live with upgrade to;

    2020 SHIMANO DEORE M5100 MTB Groupset 1x11 Speed 170MM/175MM 11-50/52T

sub £200 to replace SRAM 3x8 speed..

Current disk brakes are Avid elixir 1’s. I’m gonna get these serviced and replace both rotors for now, check bottom bracket, replace gear cables, no click on the front mech shifter, hmmm. Brakes upgrade later methinks to BB7’s, let’s see how much fun I have first with cleaning, bleed kits etc.. I’ve not paid any attention to MTB trends, disk brakes nor my bike since 2012. Cleaning this bike has been a cinch, though.

@Jeromeo sweet, I look forward to seeing on this thread

  • Ah it's a Starling.

Thought it looked really clean at the rear somehow then realised it's because it doesn't have a chain fitted on the right hand drive side.

  • BB7s are not an upgrade imo.
You’d be far better off getting hydraulic

  • BB7 is a downgrade and not really any cheaper than basic hydros anymore, get Shimano whatevers, deore or SLX preferred, or if you really want to keep costs down Clarkes do some dirt cheap hydros that are basically an old Shimano design.

  • I have some worn-once five-ten shoes which were a bit too large for me. Hang on.

  • Are they size 10 or 11? If so I might take another of your seconds!

The Mt500 suits is great by the way. Wore it today and came home absolutely bone dry. Excellent bit of kit.

Edit - just seen they are 11.
    Will pm

  • I’d be interested in these

  • Deffo 11, does £70 seem fair?
