Cellars are great till they flood, we lived in our house 3 years till the 1st flood. Last Christmas we woke up to about 2 inches of water, spent a day trying to source the problem and get rid of the water. Went round to the neighbours and they advised me that it’s a known issue when the water table gets too high, and there is nothing you can do about it. House is 120 years old so I figured that it’s fine as it is and I now keep anything of value 4inches off the floor on shelving.
