• Sad to see this go, but have too many bikes, and not enough space.

A glorious metallic blue Argos Cycles frameset, Reynolds 725 steel frame, Campagnolo Chorus threaded headset, and the coolest 753 Bladed forks.

Looks like either Merckx Blue/Blu (metallic) on the Argos colour chart.

Frame was built (not for me) on 07/06/1999
Low profile time trial frame, though I have been using as a road bike
frame size 48cm c/c = center to center
    bottom bracket height 265mm
    top tube length 515mm
    Made for 700c wheels
    frame tubing 725 o/s = over size

No dents, couple of paint chips, and scratches, and the headset bearings could probably do with a service.

    £300.

I'm in Southampton, if you'd like to collect, but happy to post.
Currently its built up with Ultegra 6600 10 speed groupset, Mavic Cosmic wheels, Deda Piega Bars and Nitto Pearl stem, happy to sell as fully built bike, maybe with the Ultegra 6600, or the spare Duraace 7700 groupset I have.

Will take some newer pictures if wanted.

  • Following. Tempted

  • any ideas prices for a full build with 6600 / 7700?

Also where can I find a short quill stem like that in your last pic?

  • Probably £650 fully built?

  • It’s not that short, it’s a Nitto Pearl 9 which measures up at 100mm.

You should be able to easily find quill stems at 80 and 90mm if you need shorter.

  • Very tempting...

I was referring to the vertical height of the quill. I struggle to find quill that can go low enough for a tiny head tube.

  • If the quill stem is a wedge design there shouldn't problem with chopping off a bit to shorten it. You'll also need a shorter bolt, obviously.

  • Ahh, I did have that concern, Nitto Pearls are quite short, so I can slam the quill all the way down to the part that merged into the stem part.

  • I've cut Nitto Pearls before with no issue... the shaft tube is the same thickness all the way down so as long as you're careful to copy the angle and chamfers as exactly as possible you'll be safe.

  • Beautiful. Would buy if it was my size

  • Drop to £340

  • How much would it be as complete bike ?

  • About £650?

  • Down to £300!

  • Down to £290, or £300 posted.

Can also do £500 including Ultegra 6600 groupset (brakes, shifters, derailleurs, cx50 170mm cranks) . Everything minus wheels.

Don't make me keep this and use as a winter bike...

  • Can attest to what a lovely looking bike this is. @Acliff. Good to meet you.

  • Some extra pics:

Some previous builds, and brazing details.
