I can't see the point of the Senso function, why not just leave the light on all the time? Does it reduce resistance or something?
Yes, marginally. Some more recent lights have a DRL mode where they power an auxiliary set of LEDs in the daytime - which uses less power - and then switch on the main beam at night.

Only on poverty hubs like SP or Shimano. Not on SON.
