No, that's definitely not right - Trump is actually the best thing that ever happened to Puerto Rico - I heard him say it. It would definitely add another 2 Rep seats if they got statehood. Definitely.

Worth mentioning that the Pueeto Rico administration have been quite sycophantic towards Trump in recent times despite the people of PR being heavily opposed to him.
I read that this was to try to curry favour for extra funding but I'm sure it's more complex than that.

although a little more problematic as US Corporations have left the island destitute
and I think the power supply is still below par after Trump sent a followers firm to repair hurricane damage.
