I vaguely remember the same thing happening when I upgraded to the 1x lever.
After following the installation instructions it inexplicably leaked. I followed the process again and trimmed the hose to make sure it was straight. It was fine after that... I appreciate theres no real useful information in there.
I remember that the lever has strange barb and it just screws into the hose. It seems making sure it screws in straight is crucial.
