  • Why...why all the pub toilet bathrooms?

They look good - what made you want to go that way? Not a direction that would have crossed my mind.

We might re-do one of ours in the not too distant. Existing on the first floor is a bit soulless.

  • thanks! I'll try and find similar down here

  • add a johnny machine and a pisstrough for that much missed full pubtwally experience?

  • Nice coke shelf.

  • thanks. That is where the flue has been annoyingly rerouted after an extention and takes up all sort of space back there

  • Why...why all the pub toilet bathrooms?

To go with the Man Cave / Home Bar called the "The Knight's Inn" or some other horror obvs:-

(Couldn't find a good picture with a "Man Cave" sign /etc from the UK in the 37 seconds I bothered to use google image search.)

  • I guess now that pubs are closed again there's a certain appeal to it

  • I don't know what your problem is, it's just a place to live, laugh, and love.

  • New kitchen is in

  • Think we may have to pull out of our planned house purchase.
The buyers of our house have - rather unwisely - signed a contract to rent their current property from the first week in February.
    We are yet to exchange.
The seller of the place we're planning to buy won't be able to complete the purchase of the house she's buying bef0re then.
She has offered to break the chain and move into rental but claims she needs 6 weeks to arrange that which is obviously not going to work.

So we're in a kind of standoff: We've got 2 young kids and aren't prepared to move into temp rental; our buyers are contractually bound to move out of their place very soon; and the seller of the place we're buying won't leave or complete her purchase in time.
If our buyers (a youngish couple) won't help by moving into temp rental or AirBnB for a few weeks then the chain will collapse one way or another!

To be fair our buyers did put the offer in back in October but they shouldn't have signed that rental deal before exchanging with us. We did provisionally agree to completion by the end of January but it's a house sale and there's been a few other things going on...
They are now in a very tricky position.

Realistically I think we'll have to cancel our house purchase, complete our house sale and move into rental.
At worst the whole thing collapses and we stay in our house and put it back on the market in the Spring.
Whatever happens it's going to be stressful with some upset people.

  • It’ll all be covered in flour soon

  • i would say it’s on them to stay in an airbnb. not you. there was no agreement and they jumped the gun

  • Yeah I do feel a bit for them though. We assume they did it so they could get a mortgage approved but the sale could fall through or be delayed for so many reasons.

  • Totally on them - surely if they're a young-is couple with no dependants, it should be simple for them to move into an AirBnB or back with parents or whatever until the sale is completed and moving happens.

  • If they are bonkers enough to suggest you exchange and complete with them with no onward purchase counter with the suggestion that fine, you could do that, but they pay all your costs until your forward purchase completes.

  • Yeah didn't want to keep playing the "two young kids" card but it makes everything so much tougher.
When we sold our first house we had to sort out a 3 week short term flat share - even as a couple it was hard enough. Never again.

  • I heard it was all about range these days

  • I had a short, ~4 week gap between selling and buying.

    It was absolutely fine.

    It was mostly fine.

It was mostly fine, until Covid hit and the lady at the top of the chain in her 80s understandably decided she wasn't selling.

Then the short 4 week gap became 9 months over lockdown and a fresh chain etc.

  • And then they walk off with the old lead too

  • it should be simple for them to move into an AirBnB or back with parents or whatever until the sale is completed and moving happens.

It’s what they will be doing anyway if they blow up the chain with their intransigence.

  • Wow, if the opportunity ever arose I'd love something like that

  • Any pictures of the kitchen? Need to see exactly what the hob arrangement is before I'd buy.
