We can tell when Vinnie's going to be a bit of a nuisance so we put him in the crate for an hour or two. I think "active rest" is what some folk call it. He's had his exercise and should be tired but is just behaving like a restless child. He's also quite reactive to noises so doesn't really sleep properly on the sofa. Crate time is solid sleep time for him. Puppies need a lot of sleep.
