Wtd: flat bar hybrid/rigid mtb, xl, 250-300

Looking for a bike for my friend:
- size XL
- flat bar hybrid or rigid mtb
- 700c/29er (ideally)
- Gears or SS
- Modernish - ie 1-1/8 threadless steerer, V/disc brake
Budget is 250, stretching to 300.
He lives in Alton, Hampshire so could collect somewhere SW Londonish or round there. Or I could possibly collect from SE London.

I have this for vey cheap- will need to post as I am near Plymouth, I have only used it for a few rides with my family and now replaced with another mountain bike.

All solid and has a 1x7 friction gear set up with swept bars as seen below.

its got grips now but not the front rack- I can send some more recent photos if needed. I really need to get shot of this ASAP

Would you/your friend consider a project bike? Might have a suitable frame (inc. seat post, headset and BB)
