Make sure your needle is well matched to the thread as well, I’ve had issues with that before.

What machine are you using? What foot? What bobbin plate if there is more than one type on your machine? What brand and type of needles? Demin should be 110/18 - 130/21
The cheaper needles break with a higher frequency than the more expensive ones ime.

I break needles quite a lot - sewing thicker items like denim, webbing, leather etc
Not sure what needle is in at the moment but it's one of the ones I usually use. Thicker rather than a spindly little one.
I'll have another go at setting it up correctly
