  • Hi do you have a link / cost per sq m for the tiles you used, please, as trying to find the cheapest of the cheap white square tiles and worried I've missed something :)

  • I suspect its the whole area.

Arse. My folk's old village lobbied the local MP to get a pumping station put in to fix their water pressure issues, it was a big improvement. Maybe another campaign for Stella? šŸ˜‚

As our place has a modern fairly recently fitted combi I'm planning to move it instead of buying a new one but this may mess up those plans.

We're having our survey done on Friday, can you ask a surveyor to check water pressure?

  • They probably keep the pressure low to stop it flooding :/

  • @chrisbmx116 Drill hole in side of reservoir, run pipe, profit?

    What could possibly go wrong?

  • This might be the only option left... have phones Thames water and they are going to run some tests Thursday.. will update you.

Also, off your previous advice, gone real terrazzo and now real brushed brass, take that for authenticity in materials.

  • Has anyone had their bathroom done recently? Iā€™m looking for inspiration.

  • I have asbestos sheets on the ceiling of my garage. The garage is part of the house, above it is the main bathroom.

After many years of looking the other way I'm probably going to pay a dude to take away the asbestos. Apparently the whole garage is going to get a vacuum as part of the process which will upset a lot of spiders. I'll be left with exposed joists and probably a bunch of cables hanging down.

What should I replace the panels with? I don't really want a finished, plastered ceiling but I could put plasterboard up. Is there something better?

  • I don't unfortunately - they were bought from one of the large tile warehouses in uddingston (just outside glasgow.) they were simple plain white 15x15 tiles. topps were quoting Ā£15 psqm - we went round the corner to this warehouse place and they were roughly Ā£1.70/Ā£2 psqm if I recall correctly

  • FFFFUUUUUuuuuuuuuu

  • Water pressure is likely to go down in London as demand further outweighs supply. Future experimental projects can be summarised by some of the following themes:

    • But is backflow contamination really that bad?
    • Do we always need to be able to put out fires?
    • Can the government reduce the price of bottled water?
    • We know people are getting thirsty, but HOW thirsty is too thirsty?
  • The space is about 2400x1800

Bath on one side of the room and then toilet and sink combination unit. Although nearly all the units Iā€™ve looked at so far look shit.

Also have the boiler in the bathroom so will need to cover that up too

  • People who buy bottled water should be shot, that'll also bring demand down.

  • Wanna link to my Pinterest and Figma files?

To sum up what you've missed:
Black taps are falling out of favour.
    Brussed Brass new(ish) hot tip.
    Keep materials authentic.

  • How about OSB or Ply? That way in future you can screw fixings straight into it for hanging stuff without having to locate joists (avoiding cables obvs, and nothing too heavy, just more than you could put straight into plasterboard). Might be easier to raise than plasterboard too.

  • Removals chat. Summarised as 'HOW MUCH?!'.
I had assumed getting a removals firm to remove to no-access storage for however long then redeliver was a sensible option. Looking at what they're charging per week for 1500cu/ft, a self storage place is looking to be half the price for equivalent space. What am I missing here?! Do I just get a no-store removals company to dump it all in a self storage place for me?

  • I'm not sure I'm likely to screw more than a light to it but it does make sense. OSB looks a bit cheaper.

Some digging suggests it should have 30 minutes of fire resistance. It seems there are fire retardant versions of both.

    We did this.

  • I did some spider stuff yesterday

  • Are you blocking it up? I was planning to use removable foam to block ours. The Spiders also love it.

  • Brass taps sound dated already

  • oh god... just when I was making progress...

  • horse brass taps
