  • Over the shoulder POV/camera.... the throw shit first approach.... terrible aim mechanics .....random enemy spawns after room entry ....ineffective melee options... mostly though the inability to track enemies - they just appear and you cannot say "I am going into a room of 5 enemies, 2 of type A and 3 of type B" because you end up having to run around too much to try and stay away from shots coming in from random directions from enemies that you cannot track.

Again it's early days but I am struggling to adjust to the mechanics. I had about 10 deaths before getting to grips with the initial mail room boss. Maybe the learning curve gets better but I really hope it gets better than this because the story is great and draws a lot, stylistically, from a couple of novelists I really enjoy.

  • All you have said is correct. When you get a couple more abilities, and some more mods for your weapons it becomes easier, but the spawning enemies, difficulty figuring out who you’re fighting, and where they are, doesn’t change. But being slightly overpowered makes it work.
Plus a more gung-ho attitude helps as well. Took me ages to get over the habit of looking for cover and sniping from long distance, when enemies spawn just head in throw stuff, shoot stuff, pick up health pellets, repeat..
Ps I never really invested in melee, much preferred to throw shit at enemies, which was much more effective

  • Ok. Phew. Good to know it's not just me.

One day ot will be though and I'll just go all retro-gaming grouch and complain about anything not Half-Life 2 or earlier.
