Plastic scratch polish works pretty well. When you are ripping the drive is trying to read them at much higher speeds than the cd drive. Sometimes they need the scratches taking out before they work, sometimes they never do. Car CD players were pretty tough on CD's, that's the era I've had most problems with anyway.
I’ve been ripping some CDs to flac files and have been having the occasional issue with errors/skipping.
The CDs aren’t in an atrocious condition - they don’t skip on a Pioneer separates deck. I could just play the affected tracks through on that and record to a file that way, but does anyone have experience using CD repair kits?
