It’s still in its original box. Has been opened though and wrapped. It’s one I’m definitely keeping though I’m afraid . I’ll dig it out some point and post some photos

Any progress on this?

C’mon! Show us! And stick it in the Dave Yates thread too please.

• #33
Can I have this?
-
• #34
Haha Sorry no. Things have got in the way of any progression to this. Which annoys me also

Cant wait to see what you do with it -

Minor update. Got the headset off and a squirrelled away CK headset now fitted.
Trying to work out the front canti hanger and what to go with, bought a dia Compe one that was to go through front brake hole but a. Didn’t clear headset and b. Front brake hole not for recessed bolt. Do I add to header stack or one that goes on quill stem?

What's with the single braze on attached to the driveside stay?

One of these was Tektro actually. Would need at least a cm in spacers to work then thought would that add too much stress? Is this better than a headset or stem mounted one?

Could fit in example 1 but not 2 as not enough stack, unless 2 was at bottom of quill

Is this better than...
There's a long list of things which are better than a stem mounted hanger. I'd start with dick breaks 🙂

You’ve lost me, but I’ll struggle on. After all canti brakes are the future....

Tektro one with spacers and longer bolt would get my vote.
Or drill the back of the fork to 8mm and fit a modern recessed nut thingy if that's an option.

Would have to both get a longer bolt and drill out the back of the fork for the tektro front fork mounted one. Strange it doesn’t clear a big standard headset in stock form

It's because of the Unicrown fork. A proper fork crown extends further beyond the diameter of the steerer.

As i read this makes sense. When I bought it it had a tektro hanger on the quill.
That said also you’d probably wince as it had sheriff star campagnolo pista hubs to mtb mavic 26’ rims.I assume Dave Yates original spec

I've had to put at least one of those serrated brake spacers behind them anytime I've used one.
-
• #48
Need much more than that. Going to get some photos up with this quandary

Tektro Power Hanger avoids the need for a ‘hanger’ hanger. #hangrrr #arrr
Aesthetically, nowhere near as pleasing to look at as a regular hanger, but life is short &chttps://www.sjscycles.co.uk/brakes/tektro-power-hanger-brake-enhancer-for-cantilever-brakes/

I've decided to try using one on my current project because I kind of like the look of it over the fork crown mounted hanger... Not fully trialled yet, I might change my mind...
@Simpson it might work for you as it comes with spacers (and even maybe saddle washers for unicrown, I must have lost mine...)
