I would very much expect that EU retailers will just list stuff on eBay (or similar), with a 20% markup to cover the hassle and then eBay will charge and remit the VAT and duties as they currently do for e.g. when you buy something from the US whilst in the UK.
= A huge American company will trouser a lot of money, and the UK consumer will pay more.
